Terms of service

Last updated: 28 October 2026

These general terms of sale (the “Terms”) apply to every order placed on magnoliayarns.com (the “Site”) by a consumer, meaning an individual buying for personal purposes. They are shown to you before you order, and you accept them when you place your order. The Terms that apply are those online on the day of your order.

1. Who we are

The Site is operated by:

Loïc Sonniez, sole trader (entrepreneur individuel, EI), trading as SLMS Trading, for the Magnolia Yarns shop
170 chemin Oratoire Sainte Victoire, 13126 Vauvenargues, France
SIRET: 990 406 407 00017
VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code
Email: magnoliayarns98@gmail.com
Phone: +33 6 50 94 56 41

Hereinafter “Magnolia Yarns”, “we” or “us”.

2. Our products

We sell knitting and crochet yarns, and braided cords, from several makers. Each product page sets out the product’s main characteristics: fibre content, length, weight, suggested needles, shade, price and availability.

Colours. We photograph every shade as faithfully as we can, but colours depend on your screen. A slight difference in tone between the photo and the yarn you receive is not a defect.

Dye lots. Yarn is dyed in batches, called dye lots. Two balls of the same shade from different dye lots may differ slightly in tone. For a single project, we recommend ordering all the yarn you need at once.

3. Prices

Prices are shown in euros. Magnolia Yarns is covered by the French VAT exemption scheme for small businesses: VAT is not applicable (article 293 B of the French General Tax Code), and the price shown is the final price of the products.

Shipping costs are added, and their amount is shown before you confirm your order. When the Site shows prices in another currency (Swiss franc, pound sterling…), the conversion is for information, and the amount charged is the one shown at payment. Any currency conversion fees charged by your bank are yours to pay.

For deliveries outside the European Union, customs duties and import taxes may be charged on receipt by the authorities of the destination country. They are yours to pay, unless they were shown to you and collected at checkout.

We may change our prices at any time. Products are charged at the price in force when you confirm your order.

4. Ordering

To order:

  1. add the products you want to your cart;
  2. enter your contact details, delivery address and shipping method;
  3. check the summary (products, quantities, prices, shipping costs, total) and correct it if needed;
  4. pay by clicking the payment button, which means you place an order with an obligation to pay.

The contract is formed at that moment. We immediately send you an email confirming the details of your order. You do not need to create a customer account.

We may refuse or cancel an order if there is an ongoing dispute with you, if payment is declined, or if fraud is suspected. You will be informed, and any amount charged will be refunded.

For any order of €120 or more, we keep the contract for ten years and give you access to it on request (article L213-1 of the French Consumer Code).

5. Payment

Payment is made online when you order, by card or by one of the other methods offered at checkout (for example Apple Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal or Klarna). Card payments are processed securely by Shopify Payments, and the others by their own provider: Magnolia Yarns never has access to your card numbers.

If you choose to pay in instalments or later through a provider such as Klarna, that payment is governed by the agreement you enter into with that provider; we receive full payment for the order.

Your account is charged when you confirm your order. If payment is declined, the order is cancelled.

6. Availability

Products are offered while stocks last, as shown on each product page. For a sold-out shade, you can ask to be told when it is back; this alert is not an order.

If a product you ordered turns out to be unavailable, we will let you know by email without delay. We will then refund what you paid for that product within fourteen days of your payment at the latest, unless you would rather wait for it to come back into stock or choose another product.

7. Delivery

We deliver to the countries offered at checkout. Shipping methods, costs and delivery times are shown before you pay. Shipping may be free above a certain order value, as announced on the Site.

We deliver on the date or within the time shown when you order. If no time is shown, delivery takes place no later than thirty days after the contract is formed. If delivery is late, you may ask us to deliver within a reasonable additional period and, if we fail to do so, cancel the order in writing. We will then refund you within fourteen days at the latest (articles L216-6 and L216-7 of the French Consumer Code).

Products travel at our risk. They become your responsibility when you, or a person you have named, take physical possession of them.

When your parcel arrives, check its condition. If it is damaged or incomplete, report it to the carrier and write to us promptly, with photos, so that we can help. Doing so does not limit your statutory rights in any way.

If a parcel comes back to us undelivered (incomplete or wrong address, parcel not collected), we will contact you to send it again. The cost of the new shipment is then yours to pay, unless the error was ours.

8. Right of withdrawal

Period. You have fourteen days to withdraw from the contract, without giving any reason and without penalty. The period starts on the day you, or a third party you have named (other than the carrier), take physical possession of the products. If your order is delivered in several parcels, it starts when you receive the last one.

How to withdraw. Before the period ends, tell us of your decision with a clear statement: with our online withdrawal form (a few fields, then “Confirm withdrawal”), by email to magnoliayarns98@gmail.com, by post to the address in section 1, or using the withdrawal form in the appendix, which you may use but do not have to. It is enough to send your request before the period ends. We will acknowledge it by email.

Returning the products. Send the products back to the address in section 1 without undue delay, and no later than fourteen days after telling us of your decision. You pay the cost of returning them. We recommend a tracked service.

Refund. We will refund everything you paid, including the original shipping costs, no later than fourteen days after being told of your decision. If you chose a shipping method more expensive than the cheapest standard method we offered, the difference is not refunded. We refund using the payment method you used for the order, at no cost to you. We may withhold the refund until we receive the products or until you have shown proof of sending them, whichever comes first.

Condition of the products. You may examine the products as you would in a shop. You are only liable for any loss in value resulting from other handling: a ball or skein that has been unwound, rewound, washed or partly knitted can no longer be sold as new, and that loss in value may be deducted from the refund.

These rules come from articles L221-18 to L221-28 of the French Consumer Code.

9. Statutory guarantees

All our products are covered by the statutory guarantee of conformity (articles L217-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code) and the guarantee against hidden defects (articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code). To use them, write to us describing the defect, with photos if possible. We pay the cost of returning a non-conforming product.

The consumer has two years from delivery of the goods to obtain the application of the statutory guarantee of conformity if a lack of conformity appears. During this period, the consumer only has to establish that the lack of conformity exists, not when it appeared.

The statutory guarantee of conformity entitles the consumer to have the goods repaired or replaced within thirty days of the request, free of charge and without major inconvenience.

If the goods are repaired under the statutory guarantee of conformity, the consumer benefits from a six-month extension of the original guarantee.

If the consumer asks for the goods to be repaired but the seller imposes a replacement, the statutory guarantee of conformity is renewed for two years from the date the goods are replaced.

The consumer may obtain a reduction in the purchase price while keeping the goods, or end the contract and receive a full refund on returning the goods, if:

1. the seller refuses to repair or replace the goods;
2. the repair or replacement takes place after thirty days;
3. the repair or replacement causes major inconvenience to the consumer, in particular where the consumer permanently bears the cost of taking back or removing the non-conforming goods, or bears the cost of installing the repaired or replacement goods;
4. the lack of conformity persists despite the seller’s unsuccessful attempt to bring the goods into conformity.

The consumer is also entitled to a price reduction or to end the contract where the lack of conformity is so serious that an immediate price reduction or termination is justified. The consumer is then not required to ask for repair or replacement first.

The consumer is not entitled to end the sale if the lack of conformity is minor.

Any period during which the goods are out of use for repair or replacement suspends the remaining guarantee until the repaired goods are returned.

The rights above arise from articles L. 217-1 to L. 217-32 of the French Consumer Code.

A seller who obstructs the application of the statutory guarantee of conformity in bad faith is liable to a civil fine of up to €300,000, which may be raised to 10% of average annual turnover (article L. 241-5 of the French Consumer Code).

The consumer also benefits from the statutory guarantee against hidden defects under articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from discovery of the defect. This guarantee entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the goods are kept, or to a full refund on returning the goods.

10. Liability

We are responsible for the proper performance of your order as provided by law. We are not liable, however, where a failure is due to you, to the unforeseeable and unavoidable act of a third party to the contract, or to force majeure.

Photos of finished pieces, tips and ideas shown on the Site are given for illustration and inspiration.

11. Personal data

The data collected when you order is needed to process it. How we use it, and your rights, are set out in our privacy policy.

12. Intellectual property

The texts, photographs, illustrations, logos and design of the Site are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Any reproduction, even partial, without our written permission is prohibited. The trade marks of the makers whose yarns we sell belong to their respective owners.

13. Customer service

For any question or complaint, email us at magnoliayarns98@gmail.com, call +33 6 50 94 56 41 or use our Contact page. We will reply as soon as we can.

14. Mediation

If a dispute arises, please first send us a written complaint. If it is not resolved, you may refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator, within one year of that complaint (articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code).

Magnolia Yarns is a member of the consumer mediation scheme of CM2C – Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice, 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France, tel. +33 1 89 47 00 14, website www.cm2c.net. You can refer your dispute to it free of charge online through its website or by post to that address.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection given to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.

Failing an amicable settlement or mediation, the dispute will be brought before the competent court under the applicable rules. In particular, you may bring proceedings before the court of the place where you lived when the contract was formed or when the harmful event occurred (article R631-3 of the French Consumer Code).

16. Language

These Terms are written in French and translated into English. If the two versions differ, the French version prevails.
