The pattern

Basket 101 is a round basket in braided cord, made to whatever size you want: you increase until the base reaches the diameter you need, then climb until it is as tall as you like. The body is worked in a woven-looking stitch, single crochet in the back loop alternating with long stitches, which gives it its basket-weave texture and makes it stand up on its own.

A quick project with a 10 mm hook, and a lovely first step into crochet with cord. Every move is shown in numbered photos, from the magic ring to the invisible finish, with links to video tutorials for the edging and the body stitch.
